HOW WE TEACH
More than an activity.
A skill you can use.
Cincy Grind Time’s design uses structured lessons, active rehearsal, reflection, youth voice, caregiver reinforcement, and observation of real-life skills.

OUR DEVELOPMENTAL LANGUAGE
BRAVE is an organizing framework.
B
Boundaries
Respect bodies, space, words, equipment, and the right to ask for help.
R
Regulation
Notice body cues, pause, reset, and return safely.
A
Accountability
Own your part, tell the truth, repair harm, and try again.
V
Values
Connect everyday choices to the person you want to become.
E
Engagement
Show up, participate, ask for help, and support your team.
BRAVE gives staff and youth a shared way to discuss skills. The supplied materials do not establish the integrated CGT model as a clinically validated treatment. We do not make that claim.

IMPLEMENTATION
Prepare. Practice. Observe. Improve.

- Teach concrete skills with age-responsive pacing and examples.
- Use a lesson plan with a purpose, responsible facilitator, activity, and observable evidence.
- Give youth choice and voice without shifting adult safety responsibility to them.
- Do not require personal trauma narratives or use a group as informal psychotherapy.
- Collect youth and caregiver feedback and review implementation before making outcome claims.
- Separate program-learning observations from diagnosis or medical-necessity determinations.
CURRICULUM TIME

The 150-minute block also includes regulation, movement, hydration, practice, mentoring, reflection, and transition. CGT is not claiming that Detroit Heals Detroit prescribes a 2.5-hour group or validates CGT’s adapted program.
